ZATTERA - Federico Piccari
Il lavoro nasce come omaggio al famoso dipinto di Gericault La zattera della Medusa, rivisitato e calato nella nostra contemporaneità.
Il titolo 08.46.26 – 09.02.54 – 00.00.00 segnala nella prima riga l’ora dell’attacco alla prima torre delle Twin Towers, nella seconda riga l’ora dell’attacco alla seconda torre, la terza riga è lasciata libera, aperta a qualsiasi ipotesi ed evento, segna nello stesso momento una fine ed un inizio e viceversa.
Non vuole essere esclusivamente un omaggio ai colletti bianchi deceduti nell’attentato, la parte del titolo 00.00.00 estende al futuro un’eventualità aperta, diventa così monumento per le stragi perpetuate in ogni parte del mondo. Punto focale è rappresentato dall’indeterminatezza del futuro a cui soggiace l’uomo, la non possibilità di controllare il domani e la sua incertezza.
La base di appoggio non è un mezzo di trasporto, essa nasce dall’acqua e assume le sembianze di un monolite che sgorga dall’acqua e come New York ne è circondato.
Questo lavoro, anello di congiunzione dei precedenti pone anch’esso l’uomo al centro del mio interesse.
Sono corpi vuoti, svuotati della loro essenza, evocano, simulano, lasciano libera l’immaginazione e la possibilità di riconoscere e di riconoscerci.
Queste strutture sono anche contenitori che prima avvolgevano e contenevano l’individuo, ora resistono come reperto di una condizione, continuando ad affermarsi per effetto di ciò che non c’è più.
Sono scatole il cui contenuto si è liquefatto, diventano pertanto oggetti della memoria, della nostra memoria, assumendo per ognuno di noi valenze differenti.

The work was created as a tribute to the famous painting by Gericault entitled The raft of the Medusa, which I have obviously adapted and given a more contemporary dimension.
The title of this piece is: 08.46.26 – 09.02.54 – 00.00.00 the first line of which refers to the time the attack of the first of the Twin Towers took place the second line refers to the time of the second attack and the third line, which has been left blank and is therefore open to interpretation, marks an and and a beginning at the same time, and vice versa.
I didn’t intend it to be simply a tribute to the white collar workers that died in the attack, the 00.00.00 part of the title projects it towards the future, leaving it open to possibilities and also open in a more territorial sense of belonging, so that it becomes a tribute to disasters suffered anywhere in the world.
The focal point is represented by the uncertainty of what the future holds for man kind, the fact that we cannot control it, the uncertainty of tomorrow.
The supporting base is not a vehicle, it is originated from the water and it takes on the forms of a monolith that flows from the water and which is surrounded by water, just like New York.
This piece, representing a link to the previous works, also focuses on the man taking the central stage of my interest.
They are empty bodies, emptied of their very essence; they evoke, simulate and let the imagination run free, enabling us to recognize them or recognize ourselves in them.
These structures are also containers, that initially enveloped and contained the individual, now they stand us evidence of a condition and they continue to exist because of what is no longer there.
They are boxes, whose content us become like a liquefied substance, thus becoming figures in the mind, in our minds, assuming a different value for each of us.
